No More Laptop Issues

Just a quick post to share my excitment......I now have my own laptop! : ) Ok, so most of you have had your own laptop forever, but I have been sharing one with my DH. That was ok until I started using design studio so much. So many times I wanted to create, but he would have the laptop or would be waiting for me to hurry up with it. Well, no more! I bought my own yesterday and I LOVE it! I ended up getting an HP Pavillion Notebook with 4 gig memory so I should never run out of space. It's the perfect size, the screen is 14.5 inches...I think. It also has a slot for my SD card so I don't have to hook up my camera to get my pictures.....yeah! Now to get everything transferred over including DS. I will work on that today and will be ready to create soon.....I hope.

I wanted to get a wide format printer as well, but Best Buy didn't have them and I really didn't know what I was looking for anyway. If anyone has any information on a good printer that will run cardstock and thicker paper please do tell. I think I want a wide format that will do up to 12x12, but am open to suggestions as I really know nothing about it.

Thanks for letting me share my excitment!!!! I will have a new project soon. Also the swap albums should be received shortly and I will post lots of pics of my Thanksgiving album as well as a video. : )

  1. Congrats on the new laptop - I so need one 'cause I constantly get the "You are low on disk space" message! I also am thinking about the 12x12 printer but I just don't know how much I would use it - the ink is so darn expensive that I know I wouldn't be printing total LOs like digital scrapping!! But, it would be so nice to be able to print directly on the paper (like titles, journaling, etc.) Oh well, I'll just keep pondering!

  2. Kraftychick.....I'm in the same boat trying to decide if I really need the 12x12 option or not. It would be nice, but would I end up using the 8.5x11 more and if so it's probably not worth it if the ink is that much more. I will keep checking and let you know what I come up with. Anyone else with suggestions?

  6. Congrats on your new laptop. I do too have an HP Pavilion and if it wasn't for it I wouldn't be much on a desktop because some conditions I have. My first laptop died a few months ago and this one is even better than the last one.
Enjoy! No help here with printers but I do like Epson's.

  7. Congrats on the new laptop. I know it's hard to share with a hubby. Luckily we agreed I needed my own laptop about six years ago. I don't have a large format printer, but I've been keeping an eye on the prices. Was in an Office Max receintly and noticed they are carrying them for some decent prices. Don't know about the ink. Would suggest you look at an external hard drive to back up pics. I've had to wipe my hard drive twice in the last year. I think I'd still be in tears if I didn't have my extrernal hd.

  13. Congrats on your new laptop. My recommendation for a wide format printer is with a HP or an Epson you can't go wrong. I am looking forward to seeing and purchasing some more of your work.

  14. Congrats on the laptop! I have a Epson R1800 and love it! It prints 13 x 19 and then I cut my paper down to 12 x 12. I would highly recomend an epson. I purchase "EPSON" ink and 13 x 19 photo paper on ebay and it makes it all very reasonable. My cousin made a family history scrapbook (77 pages). I scanned all the pages in (12 x 12) and printed copies for my sisters for christmas last year. The cost was approximately 100 dollars including albums and protective sleeves! I thought that wasn't to bad. I would say I pay about $1 for each 12 x 12 page. And yes it takes thicker media, I have printed on white lunch sacks for treat bags, when my old reliable canon could NOT handle the job! Hope I helped and have fun!
