Life During Harvest Slideshow - No Crafting

This is not craft related.  It is a personal slideshow of my family during wheat harvest.  I thought some might enjoy a glimpse of harvest and farm life.  It's a crazy ride, filled with ups and downs.  At times it's down right exhausting, yet it is so rewarding.  It's special to me because we do it as a family.  I'm not sure what we would do without Brent in the field and Kara helping with meals and errands.  It truly takes the entire family and then some.  Kara's BF Jordan has been a big help, too.    Hope you enjoy a glimpse of my simple life.

  2. Hi Lisa, I really enjoyed looking at your harvest photos. It's a hard life ... my childhood friend's family had a farm and I helped harvest hay many years ago. Very hard work, but as you say, very rewarding and fantastic for families. Karin

  17. I love your video. I live in Illinois and we haven't started combining the wheat yet. I grew up on a farm and my dad had wheat, corn, soybeans, pigs etc. He has been gone for 10 years now and this brings back a lot of memories of growing up. I would have to ride my bike out to the fields to take him sandwiches and ice water in a mason jar.
    Thanks for sharing.

  20. Lisa, fabulous - this was my life growing up, I miss meals in the field. My Mom used to bring dinner and supper out to the field. Things like fried chicken, meatloaf, real home cooked meals. Thanks for that memory.

  24. I am so envious of the farm life you have. I live in Los Angeles with horrific traffic jams and nasty smog and would give anything to move to a small town or in your case a farming community where life is much less hectic. You have a beautiful family that works well together and I hope to see more of them in future posts.
Thanks for sharing and may you have many more plentiful crop seasons

  25. I think it is great that you all are farming. Americans don't appreciate it nearly as much as they should!

My daughter's BF, who lives in Ohio, thinks we, all Kansas-folk, live on big farms with cows. LOL! I guess that's not a bad image, but for those of who live in a big city...umm, I say get a grip, we're not in the Wizards of Oz.

Yes, I am in Kansas, too! : )

  26. I have so enjoyed reading all of your stories of farm life...a sack lunch with a cold drink in a mason jar, fried chicken and home cooked meals and riding in the equipment as a child. Each memory you all shared made me smile. It's a life that gives you a feeling that's just hard to explain and memories that will never go away.

AJoy...what part of KS...we are southcentral...not too far from the OK line.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments!

  37. What great pictures! I'm from North Central Oklahoma. Live in Ponca City, work in Newkirk. I too remember going with my grandma and mother out to the fields to take lunch. You sure didn't show up one minute past noon or all the men wanted to know "where ya been"? Good memories that my kids will never know. What town are you close to? I've been to the scrapbook store in Ark City. We should meet there sometime! :o)
