Here's my latest twist on a shape album. I call it "Hiding Spots" because there are hidden spots in the album under special magnetic flaps. Not only does this give you extra space for journaling or small pictures, it also adds dimension.
Cricut cartridges needed are G&BS, Paisley, Sweethearts & Doodlecharms. Optional for photo mats is Storybook. Most of the patterned paper is from the DCWV Farmers Market stack. Embellishments include...DCWV layered flowers, pearls & gems, Liquid Applique, Glossy Accents & Stickles. Magnets for hiding spots are from Basic Grey. You could also try small Velcro dots or Aleen's tack it over and over in place of the magnets.
Here is my first hiding spot...yep this cute little frog from the Paisley cartridge has something to hide. : )
The backside of the frog has a pocket and journaling tag. Ooops, I just realized I missed posting this picture. You can actually see part of the pocket & journal tag in the pic below, but the dragon fly page next to it was turned to the next page...the mushroom.
this is just too precious Lisa. You are the QUEEN of shape books.

ReplyDeleteLisa, I have to say this is one of my fav fav so far. Love the color combo and the images. TFS!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome. You should really consider starting your own business by creating these books with paper optional and selling them to stores. You are a master!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!!! That is one of the cutest things I have ever seen!!!! I love, love, love the Paisley cart, and this is just so stinkin cute!!!!! Do you use Peachy Keen stamps for those sweet little faces? Which ones do you use, because I have wanted to get some, but I don't know what to start with. You are the reason that I started making word books. If you EVER do a live class, I would so love to come. Ofcourse I don't live in your area, but who cares? Road Trip!!!! Thank you!!! This is so cute. I love the Paisley cartridge and have used it a lot since I got it for Christmas. Thanks for sharing your idea.
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic. Once again you have produced a winner. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute shape album. Cutest one I've seen.
ReplyDeleteWow I think you have out done yourself this time. I love your work. I have tons of boxes safed to try a book but just haven't taken that step yet - you really make me want to start. Hopefully I can do as good a job as you do.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! Very creative with the magnets. How did you get the faces on the images? Is it a Peachy Keen stamp? Do you color the red cheeks with a pen?
ReplyDeleteYou are a fantastic artist! I love your work! One question though, what kind of chipboard do you use for your mini albums and where do you find it?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Melanie
missmel9@hotmail.com
Janis...on this album the only PK stamps are the eyes on the snail. Everything else is hand drawn. The bee's eyes are actually part of the cut on the Cricut.
ReplyDeleteFor the cheeks...I use chalk ink and a blender pen. The ink is the little Cat Eye inks and the color is rouge.
For those asking about chipboard...it is light to medium weight and I get it from my LSS. I am checking with my LSS to see if they may eventually offer chipboard online. I will let you know if this happens.
Thank you all so much!
Love the shape album! I love all the little extras. Thanks for the inspiration! I look forward to seeing what else you create.
ReplyDeleteI'm speechless - You do the MOST incredible work! When I don't think you can top the last project, you go and create something so awe-inspiring!!!! Please keep sharing so I can keep drooling, LOL.

ReplyDeleteNice work!
Positively magnificent -- WOW! I'm soooo happy to have found you tonight on the Blog hop! The detail and colors and precious critters, sun, et al! Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLisa, I love this froggie book.
ReplyDeleteEverytime I come on here I think how much my Sweetheart would have loved this.
He had put two little ponds in just so we could watch the frogs.
His pond in the back starting getting frogs not to long after he passed away.
He just would have loved this album. Thanks, it brings happy thoughts.
This book is just adorable!!! All the detail is incredible. Thanks for sharing your talent.
ReplyDeleteYou are the inspiration for me to try shape books. I'm still having trouble with finding the right weight chipboard. Still trying though. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love your site! Just discovered it today. I'd love to put your cute little button on my blog, but the "code" you have under it isn't HTML code, it's the address for the picture, so the button doesn't show up on my page, just that address. Any chance of getting the HTML code for it? Thanks!
ReplyDeletecricutcard-iologist.blogspot.com
Thank you everyone for all the wonderful comments. Glad you like it and that it brings happy thoughts!

What an adorable idea!! Love the flip magnet pages. Congrats with Cricut Chirp! You so deserve it!
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely adorable!! Love it. What are the pages made from? Are they just cardstock or did you use chipboard with cardstock and adhesive? Did you say in the video that the shapes are welded and part of the page, or are they completely separate? Thanks so much and beautiful work!!
ReplyDeleteLisa-- I think that is the cutest thing EVER!!! Awsome job!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Every time I see an album you have made I say WOW and shake my head. I want to come over and make one with you LOL Maybe sitting in your room I could do it LOL

ReplyDeletethis album is awesome! I love all the others you've made, but this is my FAVORITE!!!! How did you do the eyes on all the items? They are just so darn cute!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis "hiding spot" book of yours is absolutely phenomenal, but I've loved everything you've created. :-) You are truly a guru of "shape books"! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for all the Awesome comments. It's the support from all of you that makes this so worthwhile and so much fun! Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteDid you use the Gypsy to incorporate the cuts into the pages of the book?
ReplyDeleteOmigosh, I just linked in to your fabulous blog and this album is over the top adorable and so unique. You're truly an artist!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous...I used Design Studio to design the pages of the book. However, it can be done on the Gypsy as well.
ReplyDeleteFor all of those asking...I cut each page 3 times. 1 chipboard layer and 2 cardstock layers (front & back).
I will be posting another album basics video as soon as I get over this horrible cold. I plan to show in more detail the things I use for my albums....chipboard, adhesive, etc. So be sure to check back.
Thanks again to all!
Hi there
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan and I have to ask which papers you used? Are they from a collection and the reason I ask is THIS is where I draw a HUGE blank I have tons of paper but when it comes to putting it together its a no go. I would appreciate any direction......I hope you get well soon.
Beth
Okay newbie here! What do you open cut files with.. Because these are so darn cute I purchased a file in order to attempt one of these amazing books.
ReplyDeleteBeth...I used the Urban Prairie collection by Basic Grey. All the papers coordinate so you can't get it wrong. ; )
ReplyDeleteAnonymous...In order to open the cut file you must have the Cricut Design Studio Program or the Gypsy. Let me know if I can be of further help.
Thanks again Everyone!
I just love this book - you've done such a wonderful job - I hope to try to make something like this soon for my DGS first year. I love all your creations.
ReplyDeleteLove this album so much I just had to purchase the cut file. But I have to say I was disapointed that there aren't instructions or photos with the paid download.
ReplyDeleteI followed a link from a post on the Cricut message board. This has got to be one of the most delightful albums I have EVER seen. I am astonished !
ReplyDeleteCarol
